Kit Oates is a London based photographer currently travelling through South Africa documenting his adventure. We are privileged to be the first to share these incredible images and look forward to more!

“Since the end of apartheid, South African viticulture has grown in quality and in its international ranking in the wine world. This has helped to curb the mass unemployment that still cripples South Africa’s societal differences. Mass unemployment means South Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world. It is usual to find barriers of barbed wire and high walls erected around farmsteads and buildings across the country.

As the barriers to entry into the world wine market fall, and as more job opportunities arise from the increase in wine production, the physical barriers will be one day made unnecessary, and dismantled.”
