Katie Sokoler graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York with a BFA in photography. While many of her classmates were busy booking shoots with models, stylists and makeup artists, Sokoler wanted to take a more spontaneous approach to photography by using her environment as a playground for her photographic endeavors. She is insistent upon creating images that not only document the streets and people of Brooklyn but also add an element of whimsy to their lives. She promotes human interaction through her work capturing the results;  humans in their natural habitat mixed with a little bit of fantasy or fun.

Have a look at her rather fun blog ColorMeKatie for more brightly coloured and beautifully lit pictures ! Be sure to check out the “dumpster…. that was converted into a pool”, it looks incredible.
